last night

So much happened yesterday! Tanner got home from work around 7pm and had his friend Ron with him. Last night was the Art Walk down on Congress Street and culminating at Monument Square. It happens on the first Friday of every month. It ended at 8 so we didn't get to see too much but there were still a lot of people about a bunch of galleries were still open. The first one we went into was Alice in Wonderland themed and it was really interesting. In the back was a big chessboard with plaster hands in place of chess pieces. We spoke with the artist on our way out and she said that she made up her own version of sign language for each pieces "character" (king, pawn, knight...). Tanner and Ron had been standing there trying to figure out what the hands spelled in sign language. The next gallery we walked into was about bike trails in the area and found objects. There were two huge maps on the walls where people could map out their bike routes or put a sticker at a place of interest. There were a lot of people selling artwork of various forms on the streets and a band was playing at Monument Square.

Later when we were back at the apartment, Tanner and Ron went out to check out some furniture they saw on the side of the road and they came back with an orange dresser and mustard yellow desk chair. Tanner proudly brought it all inside and said that he'd found the desk for the guest room, after taking out the drawers and rebuilding narrower desk drawers. So now the guest room is pretty much complete. Later they went back out to pick up a couch for Ron at his studio. They came back, we made smoothies again, watched some good movies and shows, and I almost forgot that I'd spent a couple hours in the emergency room.
