The weather has been incredible lately! Very warm and sunny. I went to the beach on Saturday and collected some shells and sea glass. I have project ideas but I just need to find the motivation. There were several other people doing the same (it made me feel like an old lady). It was windy but not terribly. I watched one gull pick up a clam and drop it from about ten feet in the air onto the rocks. I don't think it worked out.
My mom came to visit on Sunday before Tanner got back from work. Monday morning, which happened to be Patriot's Day, we drove north to Freeport to check out the huge L.L. Bean stores. Turns out Freeport is a very wealthy town that caters to the same. In the biggest store we found a little trout aquarium with a little viewing bubble for children. The fish were huge and Tanner and I had fun with it. And then outside there was a giant boot!
The last store we visited before leaving Freeport had bunches of dried flowers hanging from every inch of the low ceiling and it smelled wonderful! There were seeds and garden trinkets and some stationary and napkins. Tanner and I decided that we're going to start collecting dried flowers and hanging them in our apartment. I can't wait!
When we got back to Portland we ate at DiMillo's, the floating restaurant, and watched this guy buffing a boat at the dock right next to us. We were trying to see if he was wearing black socks or special thin shoes. It was fun. Then Tanner went to work and my mom and I went grocery shopping and then relaxed in the apartment for the rest of the night. This morning she and I went to the Old Port and walked around so she could get a feel for it. we stopped in East End Cupcakes on our way out and she bought us a couple cupcakes that Tanner and I have yet to eat, which is amazing. Then Tanner and I did a little shopping and I picked up some fabric to make more bunting for the apartment. I mostly grabbed earthy greens, blues, oranges, and browns. A little red, too. I'll post pictures once I finish!
