tidbits

I encountered my first spider in the apartment this afternoon. I think the vacuum handled the situation well. It better not happen again.

The cupcakes are still yummy although there are now fewer of them. Tomorrow I'm making brownies.

I've been watching a lot of Weeds and finished crocheting my blanket. Three and a half months in the making. Now I just need to weave in all of the ends. That will be the most tedious and time consuming part. It may take me a while.

I realized today that I love taking showers. It's the one time of day when I'm as warm as I want to be, aside from waking up in the morning huddled under layers of blankets. I love showers. So many times a day I wish I were taking a shower. Strange.

Oh! Today I got a fourth chair for our kitchen table that is incredibly similar to the other three. It's a little wobbly, like the others, but Tanner is bringing back stuff to sturdy them up. When we get our my rocking chair next weekend (so excited!) it'll need some tightening up as well. I got the chair at a Catholic Charities thrift store just over a mile away from the apartment. It's right next to the Dollar Tree I went to last night. There's also a music store in the same plaza that Tanner's been looking for and a Save-a-lot. I found a lot of good furniture at the thrift store including couches about the size we're looking for. I also found a comfy and wild looking armchair. It has a crazy orange floral print but I like it and I think Tanner does too. We're going tomorrow when he gets back and hopefully we'll see something we like enough to get. The couches I looked at were only $45 and the armchair was, too. Oh, and the chair was $5. They even had a full size bed frame with  a bookshelf headboard that Tanner and I are interested in getting. That, however, would need quite a bit of tightening up. But aside from that it looked to be in good shape.

I'm excited about the apartment coming together at last. It's starting to feel like home and soon it really will be. Liz is coming to visit this weekend and she'll be here for Easter. We're all excited about it and she'll be our first visitor! I have an egg decorating kit that my mom got me for Christmas that we'll use. We found out that it is illegal in Maine (or maybe just Portland, I can't remember) for stores to be open on Easter Sunday. Hm.

Also, I found out the other day that prices of peanut butter have gone up dramatically and so small stores, like Dollar Tree and Big Lots, don't carry it anymore because they can't afford it. Crazy. I had to get a jar from CVS which happened to be in between the two stores.
