The weather has been so hot and stormy lately. It's been in he mid 80s all week but then we've had these freak storms that last for maybe an hour before clearing up. And I really mean storms. I've been at work when they've happened and we must have an aluminum roof because it gets so loud in there. Anyway, yesterday was beautiful so before Tanner went to work we made a quick trip to the beach. We brought an empty blue wine bottle to break so we could create sea glass in the future. When we got down there we saw a bunch of people setting up a stage on the grass for a show tonight (it's the best place in Portland to see the fireworks. They shoot them off he beach). That was pretty cool but we already decided that we'll be on top of the parking garage across the street from our apartment watching all of the fireworks we can see to the north and west of us. I think it'll be amazing. We also have some sparklers we're going to bring up and a bottle of wine. I'm really excited about it! And then after we're going to a house warming party for a friend of Tanner's from work. Thankfully I'm off tomorrow.
Back to yesterday though- we got to the beach and Tanner had every intention of going swimming and was even prepared this time. The wind and clouds, however, had other plans. Tanner couldn't get used to the water and in the end he dunked himself in and then got out and we left. At least he was brave enough to go in.
After we left the beach we got pizza to go and passed a really ecclectic looking store. One of their windows had a display of old cameras and animal skulls. Another was devoted to vintage nature books. We were both interested but didn't have any time to browse so hopefully we'll go back soon to explore. We agreed that we absolutely should be checking out that part of town since we've only driven through there. There aren't too many shops but the ones that are there I'd sill like to check out and there's a lot of cafe/diners over there too. Soon!
Happy Fourth of July!
